2016 Razer Blade Stealth Ultrabook Models Review

This is the review of two 12.5 inch Razer Blade Stealth (2016) Ultrabook models, RZ09-01962E52-R3U1 and RZ09-01962E12-R3U1. Both models have same specifications but differ in their display resolutions. RZ09-01962E52-R3U1 is a 4K UHD Display model and RZ09-01962E12-R3U1 is a QHD display model. Lets see a simple review of these models.

These are ultra-portable models with slim and premium design. Design of these models is similar to 2016 Razer Blade (GTX 1060) models. A single model weighs around 2.84 lbs and is about 0.52 inch thin. So, you can see how thin and compact models they are. Its easy to carry around with that compactness. Like other Razer Blade models, these models feature a Chroma keyboard which can backlit around 16.8 Million colors for a single key. You will have an amazing keyboard to use. Overall design looks premium.

The main difference between these two models is their display resolution. One of the model, RZ09-01962E52-R3U1 is a 12.5 inch LED-backlit 4K display Ultrabook with 3840 by 2160 pixels resolution. Another model, RZ09-01962E12-R3U1 is a 12.5 inch LED-backlit QHD display with 2560 by 1440 pixels resolution. Both feature a IGZO multi-touchscreen display panel with 170 degree wide viewing angles. IGZO display panels consume less power compared to IPS panels. So, more battery life can be expected from these models.

As these are not gaming laptops, that high resolution display is good for watching videos or doing your creative work like designing, drawing etc. Other than display, specs are same for both models. These models are powered by 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7-7500U Processor and comes with 16 GB LPDDR3-1866 RAM, 512 GB PCIe SSD and in-built Intel HD Graphics 620 chip.

Intel Core i7-7500U is the latest processor released at the time of writing this review. This processor can go up to 3.5 GHz with the help of Intel Turbo Boost Technology. This processor is best suited for high display resolution ultrabooks like these models. Basically, Intel Core i7-6700HQ is better than Intel Core i7-7500U but for ultrabooks, this processor is enough for heavy usage.

16 GB LPDDR3-1866 is sufficient for the processor and for doing heavy multi-tasking. PCIe SSD's are the best storage drives to get in a notebook. You are getting 512 GB PCIe SSD, which is a great deal for the price. As these are ultrabooks and not gaming laptops, there is no dedicated GPU for these models. Well, Intel HD Graphics 620 chip is good to play low to medium graphic games but you can't play high graphic games. This graphics is best suited for their amazing display.

Overall, performance-wise, these can be a great portable ultrabooks for your creative work. You are getting a 2 MP 1080p Webcam with integrated array microphone. So, attend conference calls and video calls without any worries about the quality. Audio from two built-in speakers is decent for a portable laptops. Dolby's Digital Plus Home Theater Edition software lets you to set a right audio mode for the situation. So listen to better audio every time.

Like other Razer Blade Stealth laptops, you will get advanced connectivity options for these models. You will find two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, headphone in/out jack and one Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port. For wireless connectivity, you will have the best WiFi standard. These models feature Killer Wireless-AC (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) adapter which is more powerful than a normal 802.11 ac WiFi adapter. And features a Bluetooth 4.1 for better Bluetooth connectivity.

Thunderbolt 3 is enough for faster data transfers at higher transfer rates. With adapters and this Thunderbolt 3 port, these models have almost all connectivity features. These models run on Windows 10 (64-bit). A decent battery life can be expected. In normal usage, we can expect around 6 hours of battery life in normal usage.
